Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and pasted labels are checked on your device.
Last updated: October 30, 2026
What we collect
- Usage data: pages viewed and clicks on shop links, through Google Analytics, only if you allow analytics cookies.
- Messages you send us: your name, email and message when you use the contact form.
- Settings on your device: your diet choices, theme, language and cookie choices are saved in your browser only.
Label checking and photos
Ingredient lists you paste are matched on your device and never sent to us. When you snap a photo, it is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) to read the ingredient list, then discarded; we don’t store it. We keep a count of photos read per network per day, using a one-way hash of your IP address, to enforce a daily limit.
Ads and affiliate links
Our ad partner [ad network] may use cookies to show and measure ads. In the EU, UK and California, personalized ads only run if you allow them in cookie settings. Shop buttons go through our server so the right country’s Amazon store opens; we log the click (the product search and country), not who you are.
How long we keep data
- Contact messages: 24 months, then deleted.
- Shop-click records: 26 months.
- Photo counters: 30 days.
Who processes data for us
Cloudflare (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (email), OpenRouter (photo reading and translation), Google (analytics, if allowed).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, PIPEDA in Canada), you can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, and object to its use. Send a privacy request; we reply within 30 days.
Children
The site is for a general audience and not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their data.
